Committee agreed that the incentives given to high achiever thalassaemics in academic are as follow (commence after the 19^th AGM):

i)  Acceptance to tertiary    -  RM1,000.00 (once only) upon graduation of any tertiary level together with a plaque.

ii)  Primary School             -   Percentage A   RM50

                                                 Percentage B   RM30

iii) Secondary School         -  Percentage A   RM70

                                                 Percentage B   RM50

iv)  Public Examinations:

      UPSR     5As and above -  RM100.00

                    1A to 4As         -  RM10 for each A

      PMR      5 As and above -  RM150.00

                    1A to 4As          -  RM20.00 for each A

      SPM      5As and above   -  RM200.00

                    1A to 4As          -  RM30.00 for each A

      STPM    RM50.00 for each A

* TIF Conference in Dubai (7-10 January 2006). Society will be sponsoring 2 parents, 1 Thalassaemic and 2 nurses.

* 10th Dec. 2005 -  Society is sponsoring 6 Thalassaemics to Singapore ( SGH ) for T2* scan (iron level screening in the body). Each scan costs SIN 405.00. The result of this scan will help in the better management of these Thalassaemics. Presently this scan is not available in Malaysia.

* Free Desferal and Pumps now available (with effect from Nov 2005) for Thalassaemics at Penang General Hospital and Hospital Seberang Jaya. (L1, however, can be purchased from Pertubuhan Thalassaemia Pulau Pinang)

* 8th Thalassaemia Camp - "Knowing the ABC in Thalassaemia", 2-4 December 2005, Jerejak Resort and Spa,Penang. For details, click here.

* Special incentives to Thalassaemic members for achievement of academic excellence as follows:

Year End and national exams incentives:

Grade A (80% and above) - RM50 (Primary school), RM100 (secondary)

Grade B (60 - 79%) - RM30 (Primary school), RM60 (secondary)

UPSR - RM10 for every A achieved

PMR - RM15 for every A achieved

SPM - RM20 for every A achieved

STPM - RM25 for every A achieved
